ACTLab members (Prof Stoten and Mr Hatano) met with members of the Takenaka Corporation, a major construction company based in Chiba, Japan. After an initial scoping workshop in Bristol two visits to Japan have allowed for further discussions on potential future projects. Development of a more formal proposal for April 2014 will now be worked on, possibly focusing on aspects of dynamically substructured systems application to the testing of active mass dampers and base isolation systems. There may also be the possibility of sending young engineers at Takenaka to Bristol for enrolment on PhD programmes.
