Description

This project involved a research visit to Northwestern University in Chicago, with Prof David Mohr at the Feinberg School of Medicine. Prof Mohr is the Director of the Centre for Behavioral Intervention Technologies and is a world-leading expert on the mental health technologies. He has developed and evaluated eHealth and mobile health interventions aimed at treating and preventing depression, improving symptom management among patients with chronic illnesses, and increasing adherence to medications. Prof Mohr and I share an interest in understanding how people interact with behavioural intervention technologies, and how the design of technologies can optimize behaviour change and improve clinical outcomes. In particular, we have both published on, and have developed systems to investigate, factors that promote adherence to computer-supported interventions. Adherence has been identified as a critical challenge in the delivery of effective, computer-supported mental health interventions. This visit focused on sharing knowledge and exploring future possibilities for the design of mental health technologies.
