BGER - Objective Structures

Activity: Examination typesExternal Examination and Supervision

Description

This project intends to develop and apply new multiscale methods for complex nanostructures and functional materials. In particular we are interested in three situations: (i) Where mass transport interacts with mechanics. This occurs, for example, in batteries, in turbine blades and in biological systems. (ii) Where electric fields, temperature, chemical gradients and mechanical forces interact with geometry to produce large actuation. (iii) Where the material exploits non-crystalline symmetries, these are the so-called objective structures.
