Katsu Goda met Dr. Mori (Coastal Engineering) during the Cabot-DPRI Natural Disaster Reduction workshop in May 2012 (led by Professor Paul Bates). As KG is interested in developing a multi-hazard assessment framework related to mega-thrust subduction earthquakes (specifically, involving earthquake ground shaking and tsunami), he will stay at the DPRI for one month in April 2013 to learn numerical tsunami simulation techniques from Dr. Mori. In addition, Dr. Yasuda (Tsunami modeller) visited Bristol as a delegate from Kyoto University for the 1st Bristol-Kyoto symposium in January 2013. KG will actively collaborate with Drs Mori and Yasuda to develop a probabilistic ground-shaking-tsunami simulator for a mega-thrust subduction earthquake.
