Description

We will hold the two-day CoMBINE workshop (core mantle boundary interactions: network Europe) at STFC’s Cosener’s House on dates to be determined. The over-arching objective is to provide opportunity for open discussion, deliberation and focused proposal writing, fostered between key academics of the DEBRA group and key European experts, including:

1. Prof. Juliane Dannberg (geodynamics), currently University of Florida (USA), soon to be GEOMAR, Kiel (Germany).
2. Dr. Edith Kubik, (isotopic analysis and high-pressure experiments), a PDRA at Bayerisches Geoinstitut, Germany.
3. Prof. Paolo Sossi, (isotope geochemistry, experiments, computer simulation) a permanent staff member at ETH Zurich.

Bristol attendees include those who could be involved in one or more EU (or other) grant proposals The aims of the workshop are to:

1. identify broad questions that can be addressed with current capabilities.
2. develop new approaches that will allow transformative progress.
3. foster research links with our European colleagues.
4. outline a potential EU Synergy grant and explore possibilities for ERC starting grants for PDRA attendees.
