BGER research at Kyoto University 2012-2013, Automorphic forms with L-functions
This project concerned some questions linking automorphic forms with L-functions. Although once viewed as separate disciplines, in the 20th century it was realised that there are many connections between these two kinds of mathematical objects. Such connections have profound applications, such as the resolution of Fermat's Last Theorem by Wiles, and now underlie much of our understanding of contemporary
number theory. The project focussed in particular on the setting "higher rank", going beyond the classical theory of modular forms, with eventual applications expected to 21st-century number theory.
