Description
This event takes an interdisciplinary approach to our ancient, medieval and 16th-century western heritage collections. It will appeal to all researchers who are interested in working with these collections at the British Library, including those undertaking PhDs in the areas of history, literature, history of art, religion, and the history of science and medicine. You will be introduced to the full scope of these collections and learn how to unlock their potential to support your research. The British Library is a major resource for students of the ancient, medieval and early modern worlds, with internationally important manuscript and printed collections which support study across many disciplines. The collections include: extensive collections of British and European manuscript books; charters, rolls and maps; a collection of incunabula that is unrivalled in size and scope; very rich 16th-century printed collections from across Europe.
These events are aimed at first year PhD students who are new to the Library and are designed to explain the practicalities of using the Library and its services plus help you navigate our physical and online collections, as a starting point for your own research.
