Description
Interactive 2-day workshop engaged participants in exploring a range of key theoretical constructs that provided them with a foundation to engage in conversations regarding the project scope, goals, and implementation plan for the development of the Maastricht organisational Safety Management Strategy.Maintaining safety in a complex interdependent healthcare system requires its workforce to constantly adapt in order to compensate for the variances within the system. Day one explored the factors that affect human behaviours and performance within complex adaptive systems, enabling participants to formulate a development plan for individuals and teams within the organisation that equips them with the knowledge, skills, and adaptive capacity to proactively maintain the resilience of the system.
During day two we explored the factors that affect the analysis of events and ultimately the learning from these events and our ability to translate that learning into practice in order to effect change. Thus, enabling participants to reflect on the changes required to develop and optimise the Maastricht UMC+ safety management system.
Finally, there we engaged participants in a Think Tank aimed at translating the reflections and insights they gained during the 2-day workshop into an outline plan to implement change.
