Description

This workshop explores how masculinity is embedded within the structures of such institutions as the military, the legal profession, the education system and the workplace. How do these institutions perpetuate masculinity, and what makes change possible? Moreover, how do these institutions operate transnationally, and what happens when cultures of masculinity collide? We are delighted to welcome Prof David Abbott (Social Policy, Bristol) to speak on masculinity and life-lifting health conditions, Dr Victoria Basham (International Relations, Cardiff) to discuss military masculinities, and Dr Paul Higate (Gender and Security, Bristol), on masculinity and private military security contractors.
