Description
This talk concerns the ethics of 'lying', which is a topic in the A level curriculum for Ethics and Religion, but approaches it from a different angle. I suggest for discussion that 'lying' is too nebulous a concept, and we can helpfully distinguish 'deceiving' and 'playing' or 'making believe.' I use a number of increasingly contentious examples to anchor my definitions of the two, and pump the audience's intuitions about when and why either can be right or wrong.
