Description
The RIMLS is organizing its eighth annual symposium, entitled, New Frontiers in Regenerative Medicine, to be held on 16th & 17th October 2014 at the Radboud Auditorium, Geert Grooteplein 15, Nijmegen. Regenerative medicine holds great promise for regenerating damaged tissues and organs in the body by replacing damaged tissue and/or by stimulating the body's own repair mechanisms to heal previously irreparable tissues or organs, ultimately to restore or establish normal function. From potentially solving the problem of organ donation to wound healing the implications in personalised healthcare and healthy aging are far reaching. Examples include diseases of the heart, skin, cartilage, bone defects, intestine and digestive tract, central nervous system, immune system and kidney. Regenerative medicine takes full advantage of molecular life science developments in stem cell and molecular biology, epigenetics, genomics and proteomics and biomaterials and bioengineering, while seizing new opportunities as they emerge from advances in molecular diagnostics, imaging guided therapies for the minimally invasive treatments and novel drugs. True to New Frontiers, a top line-up of speakers who will provide high-quality presentations on current achievements and challenges ahead.
