Description

This summer I hosted hosted two A Level students in the Data 2 Knowledge research group to work on biostatistical analyses of the NCDS (1958 Birth Cohort) and ALSPAC (Children of the 90’s) projects. The students worked on simulated datasets, as we didn’t have authorisation to work on the raw data. The students first conducted some exploratory analysis in MS Excel on the ALSPAC data before I taught them the basics of R. The students then used their new-found R knowledge to analyse the NCDS data focusing on blood and body metrics associated with diabetes and heart attack. The students also assisted me in putting together ECOUTER exhibition materials and helped produce this ECOUTER video.
