Activity: Visiting an external institution typesVisiting an external academic institution

Description

My visit will develop relationships with the Instituto de Estética at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), in Santiago, and the sociocultural initiative ‘FUGAZ/ Arte de Convivir’ based in the Monumental Callao complex in the port of Callao, Peru. The PUC’s strength in innovative approaches to cultural studies, including ecocriticism, and FUGAZ’s emphasis on the political potential of communal creative endeavours make these institutions ideal partners for my application for an AHRC Early Career Leadership Fellowship (September 2020 – August 2022), on the topic of ‘The Pacific, Port Cities and Political Creativity in Modern South America’. I am a member of the Cabot Institute’s Water research group, and Migration Mobilities Bristol’s ‘Trade, Labour and Capital’ research challenge, and my meetings at the PUC will seek to enrich the research environment of these institutes by identifying candidates for Benjamin Meaker visiting professorships, and possibilities for ECR and PGR collaboration.
