BGER ACTLab collaboration with Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI)

ACTLab members (Prof Stoten and Mr Hatano) met with members of RTRI in November12 and March13. - A project between Bristol and RTRI has been confirmed to start on May 1st 2013. Focus will be on the control (and possibly DSS techniques) for a rapid prototyping shinkansen bogie. - Plans for the 6-month secondment of Dr Watanabe to ACTLab were discussed and finalised (he is now working in the ACTLab until the end of October 2013). Dr Watanabe will help guide the project for Mr Yamaguchi during the initial stages. - Mr Yamaguchi, a mechanical engineer at RTRI and a recent graduate of Kyoto University, will be joining ACTLab in October 2013 as PhD student. - Mr Takai (Executive Director, RTRI) together with Mr Hirai (Manager, International Affairs) will be visiting ACTLab in May, 2013.
