Activity: Hosting a visitor typesHosting an academic visitor

Description

This visit is part of a larger active and funded collaboration (SPARC, funded by the Indian Government, total approx. £ 72,000 (65,00,000 INR)) over two years. This specific scheme only allows expenditure to enable incoming (UK) academics and mutual student exchange, but does not allow for any travel for the named early career academics from India on the grant.

With support from the UoB's International Strategic Fund Professors Patra and Mishra from the IIT Kharagpur spent one week in Bristol for academic interactions, exchange and presentations. The benefits of this visit are summarised as: 1) new networks and collaborations established (visitor interactions various research groups within the School of Chemistry, as well as with Centre for Computational Chemistry (CCC) and the Advanced Computing Research Centre), and 2) helped to enhance the UoB’s broader profile at both UG and PGR level at the IITK, and further partner IITs (e.g. Bombay) through funded SPARC actions (with expected impact on recruitment of top-quality candidates to the UoB as part of a larger UoB/India activity after the 2018 India visit, also to the IIT Bombay).

Further institutional-level interactions will be explored after initial discussions with the UoB's international office.
