Slapstick Festival 2024

Description

I worked with the Slapstick team to program five events at the Watershed Bristol as part of the wider festival. These included two silent film screenings in the Leading Women strand hosted by comedian Lucy Porter -- 'Kiki' (1926) and
'Up In Mabel’s Room' (1926); an event with Dana Stevens, author of 'Camera Man: Buster Keaton, the Dawn of Cinema and the Invention of the Twentieth Century', who was interviewed by Andrew Kelly (Bristol Ideas) via live linkup to New York; and an event around classic BBC comedy series 'Big Jim and the Figaro Club' (1979-1981) with members of the cast and crew, also hosted by Andrew Kelly. 'Keaton Speaks!' featured three Buster Keaton sound shorts, with my introductions via prerecorded video.
