Over 50% of people say they want to die at home, yet most of us will still die in hospital. What is our relationship with death as it becomes increasingly medicalised? Many people will never see a dead body – what does that mean for our own sense of mortality? Novelist and palliative care nurse Steven Amsterdam joins University of Bristol’s Professor of Philosophy and author of Phenomenology of Illness Havi Carel for a discussion chaired by broadcaster and cleric Richard Holloway.
