Digitised Customs Account records relating to the Port of Bristol, March 1471 - Sept 1471
Transcription and translation, on an EXCEL spreadsheet, of the Exchequer ‘particular’ Customers' account for Bristol for 29 March - 29 September 1471, based on TNA, E122/19/8. The spreadsheet is accompanied by a 2,700 word introduction (pdf), which discusses the oddities of the account and the extent to which the dynastic conflicts of the 'Wars of the Roses' impacted on the record keeping and the administration of the customs system in Bristol. The introduction includes a general explanation of the transcription process and the editorial conventions adopted.
