CPRD codes: neurodegenerative diseases and commonly prescribed drugs

Dataset

Description

This dataset contains the code lists used in a Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) analysis investigating whether commonly prescribed drugs can be repurposed for the prevention or treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Medical code lists are provided for defining dementia subtypes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and type 2 diabetes. Corresponding product code lists are also provided for the treatment of these conditions. The protocol for this study is available here:

Protocol for an observational cohort study in the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink BMJ Open 2016;6:e012044. doi: 10.1136/bmjopen-2016-012044

The current project is to be used for making code lists for different CPRD research studies available through the data.bris Research Data Repository. Patient-level clinical data will not be stored.
