Effects of acute alcohol consumption on emotion recognition in social alcohol drinkers (Study 2)

This study is a replication of a previous study that investigated the effects of alcohol consumption on emotion recognition. Although similar effects were observed in both the original study (Study 1) and this replication study (Study 2), the evidence of an effect was weaker in this study. A subsequent meta-analysis of Study 1 and Study 2 indicated an effect of alcohol consumption on anger recognition, such that alcohol increases misattribution of anger to faces where no anger is present. The protocol for this study was registered prior to data collection on the Open Science Framework (https://osf.io/6i3jg/).
