Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Bristol Composites Institute was established in March 2017, building on the work of ACCIS, the Advanced Composites Collaboration for Innovation and Science. It brings together composites activities across the University of Bristol, based in the Faculty of Engineering and linking to the Science and Medical Faculties.
The Bristol Composites Institute vision is to be a world-leading institute for composites research and education, combining cutting-edge fundamental science with strong industrial links for exploitation and technology transfer. It is a focus for collaboration internally, nationally and internationally. The establishment of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Composites for Innovation and Science in 2009 has further strengthened the composites research base by substantially increasing student numbers and widening collaboration with industry.
