Organisation profile

The Centre is a focus of both applied and theoretical research relating to key health and social care issues at national and international level. Our work often considers equity in provision, access and outcomes of care and current projects include: interprofessional and interagency work, evidence-based care, health inequality, mental health and health issues relating to ageing, children and gender. We have particular expertise in understanding gender and generational health inequalities, and in evaluations of policy responses in the fields of health and care.

In collaboration with academics partners in the UK and abroad, and with public sector and voluntary groups locally and nationally we deliver research and teaching of international quality.

We have a thriving international postgraduate research community with a wide range of interests including social policy in an international context, social work, social gerontology, and health services research.  We encourage potential PhD students to review our staff pages, and get in touch with staff with shared interests.
