Organisation profile

Members of the Centre collaborate with partners in the UK, the rest of Europe and North America, and are involved in global networks. Activities are pursued through funded research, publications, conferences and seminars, with public engagement being a priority.

Current core activities include:

  • two major European projects: ACCEPT: Tolerance, pluralism and social cohesion and EURISLAM: Finding a place for Islam in Europe and an AHRC/ESRC research project on Muslim participation in contemporary governance;
  • the Leverhulme Programme on Migration and Citizenship, a joint research programme of eight linked projects with University College London;
  • contributions to the international journal Ethnicities, published by Sage Publications since 2001, and to the Politics of Identity and Citizenship series, published by Palgrave Macmillan since 2010.
