The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Chemical Synthesis was established in 2009 following a £8 million award from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The CDT was renewed in 2014 with £5.3 million of funding, securing its future until 2022.

Our overall mission is to train a new generation of researchers for the UK chemical industry and academe. Our graduates will be outstanding practitioners of Chemical Synthesis and will be equipped with enhanced team-working and problem-solving skills that will enable them to address successfully the full range of molecular based problems of the future.

The Centre receives extensive support from the UK chemical industry. This additional funding translates into further studentships. In addition, the industrial partners contribute to our ambitious educational and training programme, thus ensuring that graduates of the Centre will be best placed to meet the demands of a rapidly changing social and business environment.
