Organization profile

Chemical synthesis, the conversion of simple materials into complex products, underpins a multitude of research encompassing organic, inorganic, materials and biological chemistry. The broad ranging pursuit includes the synthesis of complex natural products, the development of new organocatalytic and organometallic processes, the use of photochemical flow technologies for the construction of unique-molecular space, the synthesis of unusual sugars, and the synthesis of novel "drug like" scaffolds to understand the impact of chirality on biological interactions.  Synthetic isotopic labeling techniques are employed to establish natural product structure, biological pathways and provide biomedical diagnostics. Peptide-carbohydrate hybrid materials are being developed for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Methods for creating molecules and assemblies with bio-inspired function are being pursued.
