Research interests

Dr Merriel's academic interests lie within complex interventions to improve health outcomes, healthcare workers lives and patient experience. 

Her PhD piloted 'Appreciative Inquiry' to improve maternity care in Malawi, with a focus on staff and patient experience. 

Currently she is working on emergency training for healthcare professionals and bereavement care for stillbirth.
