Research interests

I am a sociologist working in the history of epidemiology, biopolitics and new biometric technologies that can work at the scale of populations. My doctoral dissertation "Problematising global health: The securitisation of public health in the U.S. and its technological consequences for national and global disease surveillance" explored the emergence of a discourse of biosecurity in the U.S. during the Cold War and its impact in the development of novel electronic technologies for 'global' disease surveillance.

I obtained my PhD in Sociology from Bristol University in 2021 and I’m broadly interested in the problem of monitoring global viral circulation, pandemic preparedness, technologies of security and in the history of disease surveillance in the twentieth century.
