Research interests
Dr. Bryer's research interests include accounting and organizing in alternative organizations, sustainability, Indigenous practices, and action research/engagement. She has conducted fieldwork with cooperatives and social movements in Argentina, Costa Rica, Spain, the USA, and the UK.
Dr Bryer's work is published in leading journals in the field including Accounting Organizations and Society, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, and Organization Studies. She is an editor for British Accounting Review and Critical Perspectives on Accounting. She co-chairs the Sustainability Committee at the Business School of the University of Bristol.
To mobilize the impact of her work, she regularly organizes and facilitates workshops with cooperatives and community organizations. Her current research project focuses on promoting repair practices between organizations and their environment, as vital for sustainable development. She is co-producing a method of training and acreditation for these repair practices with cooperatives in Costa Rica.
