Personal profile

Research interests

I specialise in bioinorganic chemistry and the biology of metals and tetrapyrroles. My research in intracellular heme regulation is distinguished by its interdisciplinary approach, combining live-cell imaging with proteomics, metabolomics, and molecular biology. My work aims to establish quantitative links between heme biosynthesis and degradation, energy metabolism, and the homeostasis of essential metals. My long-term vision is to lead an independent research programme that connects fundamental tetrapyrroles biology (e.g. heme, vitamin B12) with metabolic disorders and iron-related diseases for translational applications in the healthcare sector.
