My main research interest is the application of mathematical modelling to improve our understanding on the natural and human-impacted processes affecting water resources and soils and to support sustainable management.
My current research activity develops on water resource management. In particular, I develop open-source tools to facilitate the uptake of simulation and optimisation models for supporting water system operation. My specific interests within this research area are: how to best facilitate the knowledge transfer for innovation between academia and industry; the integration and communication of uncertainty in model-informed decision-making; the implementation of new information sources, both data and model products; the use of interactive visualization to communicate complex technical concepts.
