Research interests

Major interests include  food animal welfare issues particularly during transport, stunning and slaughter, parasitology of meat animals and meat animal pathology. Tutor of the University of Bristol Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) and Poultry Welfare Officer (PWO) training courses. Tutor of the University of Bristol Official Veterinarian Designation Course. Author of 4 meat inspection textbooks (Poultry, Bovine, Ovine and Porcine). Awarded the University of Bristol Teaching Award in 2010. Voted ‘Best of Bristol’ by students in 2015. Winner of the Students' Award for Outstanding Teaching in the Faculty of Health Sciences 2018
