Research interests

Investigate the use of a chemical kinetics software (FACSIMILE) and modelling software (COMSOL) to predict the corrosion behaviour of nuclear materials. Many predictive models used in the nuclear fission and fusion industry such as radiolysis, corrosion and spent fuel storage are modelled on a macroscopic scale. The use of thin films in fundamental corrosion testing of materials provides in depth understanding of microscopic behaviour in corrosive environments. The aim is to execute fundamental modelling of these systems on a microscopic level then approach scaling up. This should achieve a better insight into the systems at work and compare large scale models with the fundamental science behind such systems.
