My doctoral research study is based on an empirically-informed evaluation of the legal and regulatory framework guiding the living kidney donation pathway in England in Wales. My research focuses on the legal principles guiding this pathway and how these principles set out the assessment which determines the suitabaility of an individual to be a living kidney donor. The aim of my research is to gain a better understaidng of the decision-making process of a living kidney donor and to determine whether a donor is placed in a position where they are able to make an autonomous decision within a regulatory framework which takes cognisance of the social and moral values of the donor.
