Personal profile

Research interests

My doctoral research examines the ways in which residents of Cape Town practice and negotiate togetherness in the city. My work is empirically informed and based on fieldwork conducted in Cape Town. I hold Bachelors and Honours degrees in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy and Development Studies from the Universities of Cape Town and the Witwatersrand respectively, and a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited Masters degree in Cities and Global Development from the University of Sheffield. Alongside my academic career, I have worked as a researcher with housing coalitions, research institutes and universities in South Africa and the United Kingdom on projects ranging from migration and xenophobia; community-led development and affordable housing alternatives; African urbanism and informality; urban infrastructure and inequality; middle class urban anxiety; and loneliness in cities
