Personal profile

Research interests

Her principal research interest lies in Italian cinema. She is the author of Stars and Masculinities in Contemporary Italian Cinema (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), co-author (with Jacqueline Reich) of Divi: la mascolinita' nel cinema italiano (Donzelli, 2015), and of articles and chapters on contemporary and post-war Italian cinema.

She is currently co-investigator on the AHRC-funded research project, 'In Search of Italian Cinema Audiences'. http://italiancinemaaudiences.org/. Her interest in post-war Italian cinema, and on the cultural and aesthetic exchange between Hollywood and European cinema has also given rise to a successful interdisciplinary and collaborative research project on the transmission of the figure of the femme fatale, which resulted in a co-edited book The Femme Fatale: Images, Histories, Contexts in 2010.
