My research mainly focus on the flux of dissolved organic matter and inorganic nutrients to freshwater ecosystems across a wide variety of environments. I am currently working within the Bristol Glaciology Centre on a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded project investigating the role of de-glaciation on nutrient export from Patagonian glacial catchments. Prior to my current position I was employed working on a NERC Large Grant programme (NE/K010689/1), DOMAINE: investigating the nature, origins, and ecological significance of Dissolved Organic MAtter (DOM) IN freshwater Ecosystems. This research focused on assessing the origins and rates of Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC), Dissolved Organic Nitrogen (DON) and Dissolved Organic Phosphorus (DOP) flux to aquatic ecosystems as they vary over time and space in relation to catchment character, hydrological function and nutrient export. My personal research interests focus on understanding how the landscape scale biogeochemical processes drive changes in the composition of dissolved organic matter. I am also interested in understanding how anthropogenic alterations of natural systems, such as agricultural practises and modern sewage infrastructure impact catchment nutrient budgets and cycling of dissolved organic matter.
