Projects per year
I have recently completed a Diabetes UK-funded PhD Studentship that aimed to understand the natural history of a major humoral response in type 1 diabetes (Dec 2021). I am now embarking on a Diabetes UK-funded Postdoctoral Research Project based on the data I collected during my PhD that seeks to elucidate whether a relationship exists between this major humoral biomarker and residual beta-cell function as it is unclear why the loss of beta-cell function in type 1 diabetes proceeds at variable rates before and after diagnosis. This knowledge could help identify individuals for trials aimed at preserving beta-cell function and reducing diabetes complications.
