I work within the Metabolic Health and Type 2 diabetes and the Peri-treatment workstreams within the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Centre (Nutrition Theme). My research interests lie primarily in clinical nutrition and dietetics and improving the provision and delivery of dietary advice. This includes advice for people with type 2 diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance, the maintainance of weight loss for the long term, diet in people with ileostomies, investigating low iodine diets prior to radio-iodine ablation for thyroid cancer and pre-habilitaion interventions prior to hospital treatment. I am a committee member for the British Dietetic Association Diabetes Specialist Group and a Scientific Member of the Diabetes UK Long-term self-management & glycaemic control clinical studies group. I am am the developer of a brief dietary assessment tool for people with Type 2 diabetes: The UK Diabetes and Diet Questionnaire (available here).
