Research interests

My research is currently focused on developing a novel method for in situ Rb-Sr dating on major mineral phases using laser ablation. This technique is being developed using 'Proteus' a prototype mass spectrometer designed and built by Thermo Fisher. A particular focus of my research is the refinement of a collision cell reaction ion-gas scheme tailored to minimize the isobaric interferences which currently hamper in situ Rb-Sr dating in mineral phases. My research at the University of Bristol is being conducted in a close partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The resulting method developed for in situ Rb-Sr dating will be applied to date the inclusions of ultra deep diamonds, which will further our understanding regarding the evolution of the earth and the processes that occur within the Earth's mantle.
