Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests centre on the adaptive control of general dynamic systems, from fundamental theoretical analysis and synthesis, through to the implementation of practical computer-controlled devices. This is closely linked with my work on dynamically substructured systems, an advanced testing technique requiring very fine synchronising control. I also work extensively with colleagues from overseas, especially from Japan, on the adaptive control of earthquake simulators, servohydraulic systems, vibration suppression systems and railway vehicle system dynamics.
