Research interests

Dr. Döndü Sahin is a Lecturer in the Quantum Engineering, with expertise semiconductor and superconductor physics, non-linear physics and III-V and II-IV fabrication technologies. She obtained her PhD in Applied Physics from the Technical University of Eindhoven. During her PhD, she worked on the pioneering experiments on waveguide-integrated superconducting nanowire single photon detectors which paved the way for integrated quantum photonics. Before becoming lecturer, she was with QETLabs as a Marie-Curie researcher at the University of Bristol. She is currently leading the single photon detector and high-extinction on-chip filtering programmes. She regularly organises conference at the international level and organised a successful young scientist conference on quantum photonics information in 2016 with 70 participants. She was invited to participate in the 66th Lindau Physics Nobel Laureate meeting and was awarded a Marina van Damme grant in 2015. She regularly presents her work, with many invited presentations at international conferences and her works were featured at SPIE News. She is also a keen demonstrator and leads the outreach activities in quantum engineering CDT.
