Research interests
One of the biggest challenges in cancer research is the development of improved drugs that are effective and without off-target
effects. The proposed work represents an ambitious and wide-ranging multi- and interdisciplinary research programme aimed at
developing the next generation of photo-responsive anticancer drugs. Novel photo-responsive ligands will be designed to selectively
target cancer-specific DNA and which upon activation with external stimuli such as light, will be able to control DNA topology and
binding mode, which are linked to bioactivity.
