Personal profile

Research interests

My research focuses on financial inclusion from the perspective of individuals and households, specifically on the identification of socio-economic, institutional, legal, and cultural barriers that prevent individuals from using the formal financial system. Methodologically, my interests are in the application of quantitative methods including multi-level and spatial modelling to determine patterns of exclusion at national and local levels.

Previous projects conducted include analysis and reporting of results from the Peruvian Baseline Survey of Financial Literacy, commissioned by the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds of Peru (SBS) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD); implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the National Programme on Financial Literacy for High School Students in Peru; a comparative analysis of the educational systems of Peru and South Korea; and analyses of trade and tourist flows using gravity models.
