Erin Russell is a final-year PhD student working in probability and Markov chain theory under the supervision of Dr Edward Crane. Her research concerns Markovian couplings of Markov chains under prescribed constraints on the joint process.

Preceeding her current research, Erin worked in topics including particle systems and network models exhibiting self-organised criticality. These include TASEP and the mean field forest fire model.

She obtained an MSc in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Bristol in 2021 and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Portsmouth. She is expecting to finish her PhD in Spring 2025 and thereafter intends to go into industry.
