I am a climate scientist who leads research on climate change and health. My research focuses on extreme weather events and their impacts on human health and wellbeing, both now and in the future. This includes investigating changes in heatwaves, humidity, cold weather, and other weather hazards between different time periods and climate change scenarios, including counterfactual ones for forming impact attribution statements. My work utilises weather and climate observations and large climate model ensembles, as well as statistical health models, thereby uniquely bridging the gap between climate science and epidemiology.
Beyond the quantitative modeling, I bring science into action. I was a contributing author in the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6, Working Group I), and I held an honorary position at the UK Health Security Agency for two years. I contribute scientific evidence to climate court cases and work with the media, including the BBC, to make complex science accessible and relevant to everyone.
