Research interests

My PhD research interests lie in the dyanmics and control of microbial swarms, both in theory and in practice. Current objectives include:

  • characterising and simulating the spatial dynamics of light-sensitive microbial swarms
  • developing control algorithms in silico to influence the individual and collective motion of the swarm
  • applying closed-loop feedback control in vitro
  • reviewing, refining and extending the scope or application of our findings.

More broadly, my interests range across: dynamical systems; collective, nonlinear & stochastic dynamics; scientific & high-performance computing; data science, stats & AI; robotics; discrete–continuum modelling; and teaching.
