Research interests

I'm interested in new modes of storytelling that can blend children's private experiences of reading fiction with the more public, social-group experience of theatre. Serialising the live-performance element of this new form will open up gaps between episodes of staged narrative, in which children can engage with the developing story through fiction reading at home. This will help the experience bridge the child's domestic and public spheres and create further opportunities to extend the story into immersive role-playing within the family, using techniques drawn from larping and gaming.
