Research interests

Champion (Guanjun) Qin is an award-winning composer, producer, and topliner, and a CSC Full Scholarship-funded PhD student in the Department of Music at the University of Bristol.

His works have received awards and selections at numerous international music competitions and festivals, including the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC, USA), Futura Festival (France), the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival (NYCEMF, USA), the Denny Awards (China & USA), IEMC (China), Young Lion*ess (Germany), Vigevano Soundscapes (Italy), and EAMC (China).

He has collaborated with and composed music for well-known artists, including Jackson Wang of GOT7, one of the most popular K-pop idol groups in the world. He has also composed soundtracks for television series and animated productions, including GG Bond, which attracted over 50 million viewers in its first week of broadcast.

His research focuses on the hybridisation of electroacoustic music with traditional Chinese instruments.
