Personal profile
Research interests
I am a trained epidemiologist, based at the Bristol Medical School, and work on international projects relating to substance misuse and early adversity impacts in children and young adults in the UK (ALSPAC) and in India (cVEDA).
My previous research was on the prevalence of physical and mental health and well-being in the general population (Versus Arthritis UK) and in retired professional footballers (FIFA) (2013-2018). I was awarded a research grant by the Professional Footballers' Association (2018) to evaluate the prevalence of neurodegenerative disease in retired professional footballers. I am also part of an expert, multidisciplinary, team evaluating the social and mental well-being impacts of COVID-19 on the elderly in the Midlands (UK).
My wider interests include the implementation of evidence-based public health policies; studying the impact of childhood adversities on health outcomes; and, embedding a resilience-based approach to childhood trauma in schools.
