Harriet Forbes is an Epidemiologist and joined the Centre for Academic Mental Health, part of Population Health Sciences at Bristol Medical School, in 2021.
Harriet graduated from Oxford University in 2007 with a degree in Human Sciences and went on to complete a Masters in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2010. She obtained her PhD in Epidemiology in 2016 and went on to complete an HDR-UK Innovation Fellowship, both at the London School, before coming to Bristol.
Harriet has specialised in research using primary and secondary care electronic health records, predominantly using data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink and more recently OpenSAFELY. She has worked on a range of project areas, including pharmaco-epidemiology, skin diseases, mental health and infectious disease. Her current research interests include using administrative data to investigate prescription drug use during pregnancy and the associated risks and benefits to mother and child, as well as the longer term risks and benefits of vaginal versus caesarean delivery.
